A fighter is an aircraft which primary mission is to fight enemy aircrafts. Historically, fighters had only one role, air superiority access or denial. During World War II, fighters began to develop some other skills, such as ground attack. Though today there are still dedicated fighters, such as the MiG-31, a same aircraft can be used in both air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
